And this is called "When the worlds collides" but it could certainly be adapted for "when the style collides". I loved the costumes of this first great hollywood space adventure, created by Rudolph Maté in 1951. It's really fun to see that during cold war and just in the beginning of the space conquest, the image of space travel made by Hollywood is so naïve. We can imagine that the costume maker of this film should be nowadays a #normcore fervent.
Today, we would translate this stylistic choice into a visionary dressing, that overflowed from the mind of (among others) Miuccia Prada this winter or Wang for Balenciaga.

C'est "le choc des mondes", ou comment partir à la pêche à la nouvelle planète. J'ai adoré les costumes de cette première grande aventure spatiale holywoodienne sortie de l'imagination de Rudolph Maté en 1951. Il est surtout amusant de voir qu'en pleine guerre froide et démarrage de la conquête spatiale, l'image que s'en fait Hollywood est pleine de naïveté. Et le costumier avait sans doute son idée là dessus, il serait sûrement aujourd'hui grand fervent du #normcore.
De notre côté, on traduira ce choix stylistique par une idée visionnaire qui a aussi débordé de l'imagination de Miuccia Prada cet hiver mais qui a inspiré également Alexander Wang pour Balenciaga parmi d'autres.
